Community Drop-In Session

Project Green Poly is a program of interrelated projects which will combine to create Australia’s first integrated solar silicon supply chain, powered primarily by low emission energy. The first stage is called metallurgical silicon, and the second stage is called polysilicon. After full development, Project Green Poly, which is expected to operate for at least 30 years, will see 2000+ jobs created in and around Townsville.

Listening to and working with local communities is important to us. Accepting feedback and addressing reasonable concerns as they arise is a priority to ensure we are a good neighbour. Importantly we will also strive to provide regular updates on each stage of the project.

In addition to providing local jobs, training and business opportunities, we will look for ways to bring benefit to the area throughout the design, construction and operation of Project Green Poly.

This includes working with local and First Nations people to develop long-term collaborative relationships. If you have ideas about how we can add value to the community, please let us know. We also encourage the community to give us feedback throughout the life of the project.

LEIP community drop-in session

Townsville City Council will host a community drop-in session to provide neighbours, landowners and local businesses an opportunity to hear first-hand the plans, goals, opportunities and benefits of the Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct (LEIP) for the city.

We are looking forward to engaging with visitors to the community session to discuss Project Green Poly and the expected benefits this innovative technology will deliver for Townsville and more broadly the Australian economy.

Our project team will be available at the community drop-in session to provide visitors with the latest information about Project Green Poly. Importantly, this session will also give the community the opportunity to share their thoughts and ask questions about the project.

Details:

Due to the recent weather conditions in Townsville, Townsville City Council has made the decision to postpone the community drop-in session originally scheduled for March 27th. The safety of our community remains our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding.

A new date will be determined soon. Keep an eye on this page for a re-scheduled date. We look forward to seeing you at the rescheduled session!
